All Systems Red follows Murderbot, a security robot that’s hacked its own system to gain independence, so instead of following orders, it prefers binge-watching TV. When a research mission goes wrong, Murderbot reluctantly helps the humans survive while they uncover who’s sabotaging them. In the end, it’s granted its freedom but chooses to slip away, avoiding getting too attached to the human companions.
REVIEW
I picked up All Systems Red for a quick, light read on a flight from Okinawa to Hong Kong, and while it didn’t drag on too long (under 1.5 hours), it didn’t live up to the hype. It wasn’t bad enough to stop reading, but it didn’t grab me either. Meh
