That morning’s flight still haunts me.
After 2 circuits on 03R, my instructor asked, “Do you want to make this a full stop?” “Yeah…yes please.” I replied
My head just wasn’t in it. It wasn’t like one big screw up. It was a bunch of tiny mistakes piling up before we even left the ground. I tired to shake it off, focus on the next move, but those mistakes subconsciously clawed at me, like a bad signal i couldn’t tune out. Embarrassed and frustrated, I felt like i’d let myself and my instructor down. I also felt like I wasted my instructor’s time. They only get a fixed number of hours to teach each day and I burnt one of them going nowhere.
I probably need a mental graveyard to bury them properly so i can fly clean the next day and fly like it never happened. And i’m sure this won’t be the last rough day on the road to getting my CPL and beyond.
